The Fire of Creation

Rather than focus on the negative aspects of rhino poaching, I wanted to create an image that conveyed a sense of hope, a new beginning. Botswana’s rhino conservation programme was initially successful but Covid effectively shut down the tourism industry for two years. With fewer eyes on the ground, it was easier for poachers to access wildlife areas without being detected and in the last two years many of Botswana’s rhinos have been killed.
